The Larry O'Brien Trophy

What do the Heat want....This

Last season, and possibly the last season for a whole year, the Miami Heat made it to the NBA Finals, as expected, only to lose to Dirk and the Mavs. For their first year together, Wade, James, and Bosh went very far, but to all of them, including the rest of the team, just making it to the finals means nothing.

With the experience, and getting used to each other’s tendencies, sharpening, the three will be even harder to stop when the next NBA season starts. Along with this, the Miami Heat is looking for speed at the point guard position, which they hope new acquisition, Norris Cole, can bring. They are also looking for a big man at the center position who can at least compete with the other big men around the league. Some good targets the Heat can pursue once the lockout is over are Nene, Chandler, Curry, and Dalembert. The most likely acquisition would be either Curry or Dalembert. These two additions, of a “speed-up-the-pace” point guard and big man, with the Big Three, can possibly lock up the Heat’s NBA Championship in the next season finals.

With a good formula like this, there is no telling how many championships this team will win, or how other teams will stop them. There is one more thing though. This thing is the lockout. With the next CBA, the owners want to lower the salary cap, which would drastically hurt the Heat’s chances of getting a decent man at the center position. This CBA could also force the Heat to trade one of the Big Three, because the Heat would be way over the cap, and be forced to pay a large amount of luxury taxes. We will see what happens over the course of the CBA talks, which could ultimately determine the Miami Heat’s fates, as well as if LeBron and Bosh will ever get a NBA championship.
